I read the description as each unit does both. (I didn't read closely!) The unit was still on the original batteries which, after testing, showed were still well charged but switched the out just in case. No change, still getting the dreaded 30 second beep after initial power-up which the label clearly states "After seven years from initial power up, this unit will 'chirp' every 30 seconds to indicate that it is time to replace the alarm. REPLACE IMMEDIATELY! IT WILL NOT DETECT CO IN THIS CONDITION!" If this trend keeps up we will buying a unit every 15 months which is no where near the SEVEN years indicated on the label. Kidde we would happily pay a few dollars extra for a unit from a country of origin where quality still reigns. I can't heat my oven above 400 degrees without it going off (and yes, my oven is clean). I need to take it down and move it into the other room whenever I cook. I guess the bright side is I know it works. |
